Business Debt

November 18th, 2008 by business1001

Business debt can be a difficult subject to tackle. Any business owner or executive can tell you how hard it is to run a business. Unlike the nine to five racket, owning a business means that your income will be irregular, maybe lots of money came in last month and next to nothing this month.

With that kind of irregular cash flow, it can be extremely hard to meet the very regular expenses that come with running a business. Things like electricity, water, heat, lease payments and employee salaries have to be paid no matter how much money is coming in or not coming in. With realities like this, it is not hard to see where business debt comes from.

Financing business debt can be a little bit more complicated that your run of the mill personal loan. Like individuals, businesses generally have their own credit rating, but if your business is very small or very new, you may not have much of a credit rating built up. Many lenders will look to the owner or principals in the business for a personal guarantee before agreeing to finance business debt.

As with any type of financial product, it is important to shop around at different lenders when financing your business debt. Make sure you get the most favorable terms for your loan. Use the money you borrow wisely. Using a good low interest loan to eliminate your business debt and see you through the lean times can pay big benefits as your business grows and prospers.

It is important to remember, though, that no business runs smoothly all the time. You are likely to hit rough patches as your business grows and you go through the learning process that opening a new business inevitably entails. The most important thing is to use your debt wisely. Use your borrowed funds to invest in employees, real estate and equipment that will help your business grow.

Staying ahead of your competitors is a constant struggle for every business owner. It is important to know when to borrow and when to spend money on growing your business. Strategic investments in employees, consultants, equipment and space for your business can be a great way to stay one step ahead of the competition.

Having your business be debt free 100% of the time is not always a realistic goal. Most businesses, even the largest businesses in the world, incur substantial debt to meet their business goals and grow their companies. Debt is not necessarily a bad thing for your business. Using your debt wisely is an important skill every new business owner should learn.

Business debt is nothing to be afraid of. Using business loans to grow your business and gain market share is a smart strategy. The savvy business owner knows how to use business debt to make his or her business thrive.

Is Your Business Really Part Of The Community?

November 18th, 2008 by business1001

When economic times get tough, many small business people find themselves in a world of hurt, debt and worry; worried about staying in business without going bankrupt. As a retired Franchisor having risen from a small business person myself; I know the value of being one with the community - supporting the community that supports your business.

In retirement I often note local struggling businesses and review their community involvement track records during tough economic times. These businesses were not involved in the community in the way they could or should have been. You see, goodole’ boy networks are nice and being part of the community helps too over time.

Everyone else shows up when the getting is good and then suddenly disappear when things dry up. We sure noticed that in our businesses. The companies that support the community and have the real relationships and contacts that go way back can survive. Let’s use the construction business in Southern California as an example. During the height of the housing bubble, everyone was suddenly in the construction business.

Well, I can tell you I never saw so much shoddy work in Southern CA in my life during this last bubble. Most of those construction companies are now out of business, equipment being repossessed and employees looking for work. Sure construction now is tough on everyone, and I see some contractors now driving out to fire areas to re-build, insurance work, so there is some business, it’s just not perhaps geographically desirable sometimes. But there is local construction work for those who have stuck by the community through thick and thin, Perhaps a lesson worth remembering.

Business Owner Looking To Change Business? Enter The Information Age

November 16th, 2008 by business1001

Changing businesses is a lot like a career change for a business owner. While an entrepreneur can continue to be an entrepreneur, changing businesses or industries is often difficult. With the ushering in of the information age many new entrepreneurs found an exiting field using the power of the internet.

But what about the business owners who started and built a traditional business sometimes over a decade or even multiple decades. Changing businesses can be a challenging task and even overwhelming to any entrepreneur. Some businesses become obsolete, these are the ones that easier to accept change as the only alternative.

But what about when a business is still bringing in strong revenues and seems healthy? Many entrepreneurs find themselves hiding or even stuck behind a robust revenue stream that is barely eking out a six figure profit. Success or perceived success can create an attractive spot in the local community and many business owner find it unfathomable to relinquish the prestige rapport they have developed through years of hard work and strategic planning.

The information age has introduced and supercharged business models that can deliver a whole new breed of results. With much lower fixed expenses and variable expenses automated to a large degree, information age business models with revenues of even two or three hundred thousand can out preform their counter parts with revenues of two to three million.

Business owners looking to change businesses in 2008 and beyond will likely be doing so to take advantage of better cash flow and much higher profitability. The traditional brick and mortar business world has deemed acceptable sacrificing profitability for improved cash flow and the Information age business sector is seemingly out to reclaim both back. If cash is king then profitability is queen and the information age is the kingdom most sought after for the business owner looking to change careers in the business arena today.

Using real estate as an example we can see how the power of the Internet, the information age and popularity of the home based business industry in the last couple years completely changes the face of business and investing. Say you bought five houses for 100 thousand dollars each and rented them out and they each cash flowed about 600 dollars per month. You would earn thirty six thousand dollars per year right? ( For illustrative purposes) So to recap, you have invested a half a million dollars and are earning around three thousand dollars a month in passive income right? Well, if you have ever rented real estate, you know it’s not passive and never has been, but still you get the picture.

Now say you have information that is worth three or four hundred dollars. This information will either need to save someone a significant amount of time or more than four hundred dollars. Think of information that you have right now that would add value. Now say you sold that four hundred dollar information for fifty bucks. You create an e-book or have one created, then get a ten dollar domain and free hosting and start telling people about your information. If you sell two of those books a day, any where in the world you have out performed your real estate for under two hundred dollars per month.

This is only to prove a point and it is hypothetical money can be made in real estate in a passive way, but the information age offers a more wealth centered approach and smart business owners are seeing this and it gives them that entrepreneurial itch for change.

Joe Crawford has been an entrepreneur since his early twenties. After building a 2.5 million dollar 30+ employee traditional business he sought out a business industry, career, or business model that would provide him the results HE wanted. If being “successful” is old news & you want the specific results of a Solid Six Figure Income in the next 6-12 months WHILE building a residual walkaway income stream over time……

… then come evaluate an information age business opportunity that you can use to do just that. Everything is in place and it is absolutely free to evaluate the business details. Make it a Great Year! You Deserve It!

Could You Use Contextual Advertising For Your Blog?

November 14th, 2008 by business1001

Blogging is a great way to get you noticed online, but there is often a conflict of opinion as to whether blogs should be monetized or not. On the one hand people reckon that blogs are supposed to represent a personal point of view about something rather than a commercial one, and on the other it could be said that blogging can be hard work and you shouldn’t be expected to do it for nothing.

Of course there is no right or wrong answer, but if you do happen to agree that blogs can and should be monetized then contextual ads are definitely a good way to go. Why? Because they will appeal to your visitors in a way that more general ads wouldn’t. Online contextual advertising is certainly picking up pace as more and more people realize you can get good results from it, but not everyone thinks about putting it to good use on their blog.

But contextual advertising doesn’t need to be in your face like many other forms of internet advertising are. It can be altogether more subtle than that - and as such this more understated approach can suit blogs rather nicely.

A good example of this kind of contextual advertising is the In-Text Advertising model. This doesn’t provide you with ad blocks to position on your website; instead it focuses on the content of your site, and looks for keywords that are relevant to the topic your site concentrates on. From there it finds you some ads that will link in nicely with those keywords and inserts them in your site by very simply underlining the keywords and leaving it at that.

Now if you were to look at a blog which has this kind of advertising on it, you wouldn’t immediately be hit by the amount of ads on the page. It wouldn’t detract from the overall viewing experience. Instead, you would start reading the content. As you come across one of those underlined keywords, you might well hover over it with the intention of clicking on it to see if it’s a link.

It is a link, but it’s not one you need to click on. Contextual advertising via In-Text ads means you will see a pop up window containing an ad related to that keyword. It’s neat, it’s attractive and the user decides whether or not they want to see it.

As such it is one of the best forms of advertising you can use on your blog. It’s always worth experimenting of course, but on the whole this gives you the best of both worlds - a monetized blog that doesn’t flash adverts at people on every page.

Kontera is an In-Text ad network that offers contextual advertising to publishers across the web. Kontera’s advanced contextual ad technology guarantees the highest degree of relevancy between content, keywords and ads.

Promotional Items - A Unique Method of Advertising Your Company

November 10th, 2008 by business1001

With neck-to-neck competition becoming the market phenomenon the emphasis on advertising too has received much significance. Companies involve very many ways to advertise their business. The most popular methods include banners, billboards, pamphlets, print, broadcast and online advertisements. However, in all of them there is a tint of commercialism and hence, most of the times they fail to build up an impression in the audience mind. Here comes the importance of the advertisement gained through the promotional items. The promotional products never appear as upfront means of business promotion but rather camouflage themselves as personal gifts. This is what makes them stand out as an unique form of advertising.

Let us see how the promotional merchandise are distinct as modes of advertisement -

Have an individual reach:
Promotional items are distributed among every audience present in the business events and promotional campaigns. It is made sure that the corporate merchandise is received by each one attending the occasion. This accounts for their individual reach and eventually the company they represent. However, this is not the case with the common media forms. The insertions made through them are directed towards the audience at large. There is no guarantee that the company message hits the audience actually targeted.

Caters to extensive audience base:
The portable nature of the promotional commodities help them to venture into extensive audience base. They are taken along by the audiences to different places in the course of their tours and travels. This enables the branding components imprinted on them come in terms with many new audiences in these new destinations. Thus, the brand presence does not remain restricted within the core audience group but spreads to non-catered potential and existing clients as well.

Generates word-of-mouth advertisement:
The strategy behind the use of promotional items is to generate word-of-mouth advertisement for the company they stand for. Acting as token of appreciation for the different audiences in their own distinctive way they have great implications from the viewpoint of brand marketing. The customers who are treated with such promotional items talk about the brand in public and thus act as the voluntary brand ambassadors for the company. The public is more ready to believe the words of the experienced customers, so they turn out as the secondary customers for the company.

Therefore, with this clear understanding about the competency of advertising articles feel free to promote your company by advertising your brand identity through them.

Corporate Advertising With Promotional Conference Bags

November 7th, 2008 by business1001

Promotional conference bags are great for corporate advertising. They are an important activity in business. That’s why any executive will find use of promotional conference bags. Participants of any exhibition expect to receive them. Nowadays, advertisers also gift pens, writing pads or any other useful item for conferences with these bags. If your company too is organizing an exhibitoin then they can also use the occasion to promote its business through promotional conference bags. Perfect ones can easily enhance the reputation of your company in the minds of participants. They offer more value to companies which operate in business to business segment. Companies which operate nationally or internationally can also benefit from gifting these bags at conferences.

Promotional conference bags offer a big space for advertisements without making it messy. You can print your company name with logo and other information which you wish to advertise. If the trade show is sponsored then in that case you can also print the sponsor’s name. Companies also tuck in printed leaflets inside the promotional exhibition bags. But, our experts online advise not to fill in the bag with advertisement materials as it often causes discomfort to recipients. The idea should be to promote you business in the best possible way. Some vital information on the city where the conference is held will be welcomed by attendees and will be useful to them. You can provide information on places of interest and important telephone numbers in it.

They should be of good quality so that it can be used for longer time. The benefit of distributing good promotional bags is that your promotion will run for months even after the conference is over. Secondly, attendees will be impressed by your choice and will take them home you have distributed. Similarly, materials inside the bag should also be of good quality.

Lawn Mowing Business - Ways to Advertise

November 6th, 2008 by business1001

Local Print Media

Buying advertising space in local print media can be effective depending on how you go about it. Remember that people buy based on perceived benefits and not product or service features so you should not just tell potential customers about your services but focus more on telling them how your services will benefit them. Research how a good advertisement should be designed and also look into ways that you can negotiate cheaper ways to buy advertising space.

Flyers and Direct Mail

Sending out an advertising flyer can work although this approach is much more effective if you personally hand out flyers and talk to people at the same time. Remember that the response rate for flyers and direct mailings is notoriously low.

Network

Join business associations such as your local Chamber of Commerce. Attending regular meetings is a great way to network, meet new prospects and to spread the word around.

Try to get to know some real estate agents and ask them to distribute you brochures or business cards to people moving into houses that have just sold.

Community Noticeboards

Look for local retailers who have community notice boards. You can often post your business card or flyer there for free.

Advertise on your Vehicle

While getting customized branding on your vehicle can be expensive, once it is in place it is a mobile, free advertisement for your lawn care business whenever you are on the road or parked in front of a customers property.

Online Advertising

Once you have your lawn care business’s website online you can look into the numerous forms of online advertising available. It is now possible to set up ‘pay per click’ campaigns with ‘Google Adwords’ and ‘Yahoo Search Marketing’ that target Internet searches in only your local area.

Outside the Box Thinking

Learn to think outside the box. Instead of just use the same marketing methods that your competitors are using try to brainstorm and think of totally original ideas or borrow ideas from other industries with companies that are innovative and original in their approach to adverting.

Testing and Tracking

Once you have a good variety of advertising methods in place you should then try to track the performance of each method to determine which methods are cost effective. When customers enquire about your services make sure that you ask them how they heard about your company and keep a record of the number of customers that found you through each method. Then you can calculate the cost of acquiring each new customer through each method and you can eliminate the advertising methods that don’t work.

There are no methods that can be expected to be better than others as every market is different. Look at the methods used by well-established lawn care businesses, as it is likely that they have tested many methods over time already.

Steve Sutherland has experience running a variety of small businesses. Using Pay Per Click Advertising to Build Your Network Marketing Business

November 5th, 2008 by business1001

If you’ve been in network marketing for any period of time you know that recruiting new distributors is the key to success. And you won’t get new distributors without a constant flow of qualified prospects.

But, where do you find qualified prospects?

Your upline tells you to share your product with anybody and everybody but you soon realize that this is futile. In fact, it is very poor marketing.

So what do you do when you’ve exhausted your warm market?

Well, there are all kinds of marketing tactics you can implement. You should look for a team that helps you become a better marketer and teaches you these tactics. Most uplines in network marketing know nothing about sound marketing principles- so find an upline that does.

Here are a few tactics that you could implement:

- Use a marketing system with pre-written auto responders. Why hand out a DVD or brochure to someone when they might not join your business? Turn your work into leverage. If you get someone to your marketing site and there are 5 months of auto-responders that will be sent to them then you’ve just leveraged yourself.

- Classified ads
- Magazine ads
- Flyers
- Referrals
- Car decal
- Business cards
- Article marketing
- Pay per click advertising

Now, this is just a small list of the possible marketing tactics that you could use to build your business. There are literally hundreds of methods you could use- that is why it is important to join a group that teaches you HOW to market your network marketing business.

But, if you are going to master one tactic then let it be pay per click advertising. Why should you use pay per click advertising to grow your network marketing business?

1. It is the most targeted traffic you can get. This is so important and should not be overlooked. Marketing is all about how targeted your message is to your potential prospect. The more targeted your marketing the better your results.

2. You can get targeted traffic to your site within 24 hours. You don’t have to wait- once you’ve set it up it will come.

3. It is highly traceable. This could be the most important part that separates it from everything else. You can track your campaign right down to the keyword. Thus, you know what is working and what isn’t and you can optimize your campaign.

Just these 3 points alone should make you consider using pay per click advertising for your network marketing business. If you know how to do it right you will never run out of qualified prospects again!

But, I should warn you: Don’t attempt pay per click advertising without learning it first. Many people lose a lot of money fast because they don’t know how to do it properly. Find an upline that can teach you how to use this powerful tactic.

Also, keep in mind that if your website doesn’t convert traffic into new distributors then it doesn’t matter how much targeted traffic you get through pay per click advertising. So use a marketing system that is proven and tested!

Good luck as you start marketing your network marketing business using the art of pay per click!

Inexpensive Advertising Tips For Your Cake Business

November 1st, 2008 by business1001

Starting a cake business from home is an awesome idea, but as with all businesses one of the most significant keys to succeeding in this business is, none other than, marketing. There are some powerful tools you can use out there for relatively low cost out of pocket. Over the next few minutes, I am going to reveal these things to you in hopes that they will help you succeed in your cake business.

1. Never, ever underestimate good ole fashioned word of mouth advertising. It is without a doubt the most powerful marketing tools that you can use. Inform everyone that you know about your cake business and invite them to refer their friends and family to you. You can’t escape that this is not only powerful but free! Remember, one happy customer can product 3, 5, 7, 15 or maybe even 20 more customers, you never know!

2. Be distinctive when selling your cake business. Every company that is successful has developed a recognizable or memorable slogan or proposition. What sets you apart from others that are starting a cake business from home? For example, you deliver your finished product for free or something along those lines! Hopefully you can define unique features of your cake business to promote to your prospective customers.

3. Have you considered Press Releases, PR’s? Press Releases are simple little articles that you can write when something new or important is going on with your business. You can submit them to free PR sites on the Internet or send them to local press agencies in your area. Make them interesting and full of valuable information about the upcoming event.

4. Use others in your area to promote your business or product for you. For example, realtors usually give their clients presents when after a closing. That present could be your cakes. Offer them to realtors with a special, maybe buy one get one free. Then include all of your cake business’ info on the box so their clients will know where the product originated from.

5. Be a sponsor in your community. You can sponsor any type of local event such as baseball teams, religious activities, fund raisers, grand openings or booths in festivals. Here you can offer your product samples for free to gain amazing exposure. Keep brochures or business cards on hand to pass out. You can be even more creative and use magnets or things of that nature.

6. Advertise in local papers and shoppers. Start out with smaller papers if your budget is smaller but start somewhere. Get your name and your product out there for people to become aware of. They can’t find you if they don’t know you are there!

7. Ah, the Internet! The Internet has transformed thousands if not millions of businesses into a success. Create a website that is user-friendly and good-looking. You can hire someone to do this. Think of hiring a college student whose rates will be much cheaper. IF you already know how to do this yourself then you are one step ahead of the game. Later you can use this site to take orders as well.

8. Networking is where it’s at! Your main goal is to get on the vendor’s list of ever wedding planner, event planner and party planner there is in your surrounding area. Contact these people, offer discounted rates for first time use. Send coupons, business cards and/or samples. Let them know you are skilled, ready and willing to serve their customers.

9. Are there distributors in the area that may be willing to display your cakes? Let them know you are starting a cake business from home and you want to get the word and your work out there. Other small businesses may be sympathetic to your plight and want to help. Of course, they also may want a small commission but that is ok. Any help is good help!

These are just a few, inexpensive ways to get out there and get noticed. Try to implement these into your new cake business and if your product is good, then you are sure to be a success!
